About N8 Health Coach

Meet Michelle
Hi, I'm Michelle, a Health Coach and mum to two boys, living in Crouch End, London, N8.

I am a firm believer that our modern lifestyles are beginning to wreck our health.

Whether it’s unexpected weight gain, trouble sleeping, constant fatigue, lack of motivation to exercise, or a growing list of menopause symptoms – many of us are feeling the effects. If we’re not careful our health issues might progress into more serious concerns like pre-diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol – the kinds of conditions none of us want our doctor to mention.

Maybe you have picked up habits you know aren’t helping: a take-away a bit too often, afternoon sugar cravings, mindlessly snacking in front of the TV at night, or that nightly glass (or two) of wine to unwind. The truth is, most of us love the good life a little too much. Weekend meals out, entertaining with colleagues or clients, convenient takeaways and ready meals, drinks at home, biscuits, gourmet pizzas…it all adds up.
I have always been interested Human Biology, something that started back at school and eventually led me to a degree in Biology. My career took a different path into Accountancy, where I worked as a Finance Manager across sectors such as law and education. My interest in health and wellbeing continued, and as I settled into family life I developed a love of cooking.
In 2024 I made the decision to leave my busy role as a Finance Manager in a school to retrain as a Naturopathic Health Coach. The course was fascinating, back to my biology days but adding in new knowledge around nutrition, exercise and coaching. What struck me most during the course, through real-life coaching scenarios, was how often people actually know what’s contributing to their health issues. The challenge isn’t lack of knowledge; it’s being able to change habits and apply that knowledge to our everyday life. Our modern food environment and busy, stressful lives don’t make it easy. As a working wife, mother and homemaker in my mid-50's I can relate to many of the challenges midlife throws at us.

I’m continually applying what I’ve learned to my own life. I love cooking, and over the years our family’s staple meals have evolved for the better. I am much more intentional about exercise even though I have never considered myself the sporty type. I believe in staying active in ways that feel good and fit your lifestyle. I am not a big fan of the gym, but I do resistance training at home, attend yoga classes, and make time for one or two long walks a day, usually with our family dog.

I have always had a sweet tooth and know whether I grab a sweet treat or not is not just to do with willpower. For me, it’s all about what else I’ve eaten that day, what’s in the house and what the alternatives are. Same with alcohol, I've changed my personal attitude to drinking recently, having reflected on the impact it has on me, particularly the quality of my sleep.

Part of my decision to change careers was also about reducing stress. The increase in mental health issues, burnout, and fatigue so often comes down to trying to juggle too much especially when you’re balancing work and family life. The school I worked at was expanding, which was great for them, but it also meant more pressure for me. I decided it was time to prioritise me. With both of my children now teenagers, 2024 became my “year of me”, a time to focus on my own wellbeing and goals.

Above all, I believe we have the power to change how we feel - starting with getting the basics right. My approach isn't designed to fix everything overnight, but with consistent commitment over weeks and months, you'll feel better in yourself and more in control of your own health and wellbeing.
My Coaching Method
My coaching method is based on collaboration every step of the way. I work closely with clients to identify specific health objectives and tailor my approach to their unique circumstances. My process starts with a full health history and in-depth discussions into your daily routines, and progresses through actionable goal setting, and continuous monitoring of progress.

By delving into the details and providing comprehensive explanations, I ensure that my clients understand the rationale behind each new habit. My coaching method is structured to engage and motivate, whether through detailed discussions or concise, impactful guidance.
